Mervyn LeRoy, (1900-1987), Prolific, mainstream Hollywood filmmaker
who had an intuitive, almost uncanny grasp of what constituted
successful screen entertainment. He directed 77 films and produced
28 films. Some of the movies he was best known for were, "The
Wizard of Oz", "Mister Roberts", "The Bad
Seed" and "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo".
He received the Irving Thalberg Life Achievement Award in 1975
